A brief history
MGMT. was formed in the early 2000’s by Ariel Carter, Alicia Cheng, and Sarah Gephart. After a few years, Ariel was drawn away to the lakes of Minnesota where she is now Associate Creative Director at Brand Design Lab / Target Creative. After many more years, Alicia left to become the Head of Design at the Met in 2021. Sarah is now the principal. The studio has always put community and collaboration first, leading to many great projects (see client list above—many of whom have become friends over the years) and memorable studio lunches. Though everything, typography and content-specific design will always be what drives the work. If you’re interested, our old website is archived here.
